Mission Overview[]

  • Number of Players: 2
  • Special Components: 4 Objective Tokens, 3 Mission Tokens

A group of Romulan scientists are testing a new Cloaking Technology. Intercepted transmissions have alerted them to the presence of enemy ships in the sector. The Romulan scientists must complete their research and are determined to finish their testing at any cost.

Set Up[]

Enemy Player[]

35/70/105 squadron points, depending on the number of the number of ships it will use in the mission (1, 2, or 3).

Romulan Player[]

50/80/100 squadron points, depending on the number of ships used by the Enemy Player (1, 2, or 3). The Romulan Player must include at least one Romulan Science Vessel and one Tech Upgrade.

Play Area[]

The players decide at the start of the game whether the Enemy Player will play with 1, 2, or 3 ships. This will determine the scale of the Mission and dictate how many squadron points the Romulan player can spend to protect the Romulan Science Vessel on its mission.

The ships are set up as in a standard 2-Player Game.

In addition, place 4 Objective Tokens, one in each corner, exactly 8" from either side. These represent the Test Areas. The Objective Tokens are considered abstract points in space and are not considered obstructions in any way.

Special Rules[]

Objective[]

  • Romulan Player: Your Science Vessel must possess at least 3 Mission Tokens on its Ship Card and then enter warp by moving through your starting area and off the edge of the table. Alternatively, you can complete the mission by eliminating all enemy ships. If your Science Vessel leaves the edge of the table without having 3 Mission Tokens on its Ship Card, you fail the mission and lose the game. Also, if your Science Vessel leaves the table without going through its starting area, you lose the game.
  • Enemy Player: Prevent the Romulans from completing their tests by destroying all of the Romulan Science Vessels.

Test Areas[]

If a Romulan Science Vessel is at Range 1 of a Test Area, you may perform the following Action:

ACTION: Choose one of the [Tech] Upgrades on your Science Vessel and roll 1 attack die:

  • [Blank] = Failure. Disable chosen Upgrade and sustain 1 damage to your Hull
  • Battle Stations = Failure. Disable chosen Upgrade and sustain 1 damage to your Shields (or Hull if you have no Shield Tokens left).
  • Hit = Success. Science Vessel repairs all damage to its Hull and Shields.
  • Critical hit = Critical Success. Science Vessel repairs all damage to its Hull and Shields. Place a Cloak Token on your Ship Card and a Cloak Token beside your ship. While you have a Cloak Token on your Ship Card, you are always considered Cloaked, even if you fire. In addition, your Shield Tokens remain active while you are cloaked and you may take a free Sensor Echo Action each round. Once all of your Shield Tokens are destroyed, remove the Cloak Token from your Ship Card and flip the Token beside your ship over to its red side; you must remove the Cloak Token from beside you ship during the End Phase and cannot Cloak again unless your Shields are somehow repaired.

Regardless of the success or failure of the test, place a Mission Token on your Ship Card and remove the Objective Token from the table.
